Today was National Poetry Day and to celebrate, there was a themed Creative Writes workshop – Playing with Poetry & Words.
It was wonderful to be back at my beloved North Bank – an inspirational Victorian house in Muswell Hill.
There was one fast paced free flow exercise after another and we experimented with metaphor, simile, mixed up nouns, created word banks together and read poetry – including ‘The Stars and the Moon’ by Grace Shulman. When we had written our free flows and word lists, we spent time creating our own poetry and then shared it with the group.
A truly wonderful way to celebrate National Poetry Day and a reminder that we need never be lost for words…
