Last night, I sat around a table at the inspiring North Bank house in Muswell Hill with 6 mothers for the Creative Writes ‘Writing Parenthood’ workshop. The workshop had been organised in collaboration with North London Mums, to enable parents to spend time just to focus on creative writing.
The hour & a half flew by – as we worked through a series of fast paced, free flow writing exercises which not only helped the group to clear their heads from the daily clutter but also enabled them to focus on the unique experience of being a parent.
The group shared funny stories/Moments of Joy in a storytelling exercise. They then looked at the poetry of Sharon Olds – which inspired them to write their own poetry & prose about how being a parent makes you aware of the passage of time.
