The seasons have changed from Winter, to Spring, to Summer.
As I mentioned in my last blog post – Hashtag Change, there is a lot for me to be grateful for. I’ve been able to continue with my Creative Writes group workshops and one to one Masterclasses and welcome new writers to our community, without the restrictions of geography.
I am fortunate to have continued working with my Blind Aid and Claremont Community Writing Groups on Zoom.
Today we had the honour of welcoming guest poet Erin BoIens to our Blind Aid Workshop. She read us her powerful Miss Pandemic 2020 poem, which I shared in my last blog post and our writers had the opportunity to share their work.
Two weeks ago, I returned after a long Furlough to my Community Engagement role at the incredible Heritage site – the Charterhouse, albeit working from home for the time being. It is exciting to be back and able to connect again: http://www.thecharterhouse.org/
But what now?
Lockdown is easing in London but I am confused as to what that means exactly and this is something that seems to be causing considerable anxiety for a lot of people.
This is a time when a sense of community, more than ever – is vital. I think that we have been incredibly good at creating this. Almost overnight, new ways of belonging were pioneered. As the Arts, Cultural and Sports venues shut down, we were invited to spectate and participate in an almost overwhelming selection of resources and access venues online that were not previously open or accessible to us.
But we now find ourselves in this grey area/limbo and the one thing that’s clear is that there is no one way to do this.
